I had a small one of these heated bowls for my 3 hens last winter and it worked great at keeping unfrozen water available. I'm expanding to the larger one this winter as I now have 8 hens to provide water for.

Great bowl for the cold months

I actually have 3 of the bowls - 2 for my 4 dogs, and 1 for the little critters in the front yard. (It is so cute to see a squirrel drinking from the bowl!) The bowl is easy to clean and durable, and keeps the water at a pleasantly warm temperature.
