The cone of shame

My vet calls this treatment the cone of shame. This soft version seems less so. The product is very well made--sturdy. It was easy for my pet to lay down and sleep (he even seemed to enjoy the face covering while he slept.) It was easy for him to go in and out of the dog door. The initial panic of and time needed to adapt to this type of collar that I've observed in all dogs when first encountering the collar, was less with this collar--and the dog I used it on is somewhat of a shy nervous Nelly.
I didn't give it 5 stars because of the following. He was occasionally able to somewhat defeat the cone by somehow pulling on the velcro and getting it askew. This enabled him to get at the hotspot on his arm occasionally. Because of this I took it off prematurely, and this has completely set back the healing process that was slowly occuring, so will be putting it back on. We are a busy family, often gone from the house, but we will need to do a better job of monitoring the fit of the collar--it completely works when its on correctly.

So much nicer than the hard plastic collars! No banging on furniture or running into the wall. Also, my dog tolerates it better than the hard cones-probably b/c every sound isn't amplified (like what happens w/ the other cones). A much better alternative!

My dog appreciated this collar very much. He was able to maneuver around corners and doors easier than the standard plastic cone.
