High Quality Responsibly Sourced Ingredients

After researching various high end dog kibbles I decided on Orijens for my Nordic breed dog. I based my decision on the same criteria I use for my own diet. I preferred ingredients high in antioxidants, antibiotic-free proteins, organic or no pesticides, non GMO, minimal chemical additives, high nutrient, easily digestible, pre- and pro-biotics balanced with affordability comparable to equivalent brands on the market. Although not organic, Orijens impressed me with how selectively and responsibly they sourced their ingredients. It is the only manufacturer I know of that tests their fish for toxins and heavy metals. The bags are vacuum sealed and production is limited to maintain quality. For this reason you will not find it available in large chain pet stores, except maybe the chicken kibble. I previously fed my dog Natures Variety Instinct Salmon for over 5 years. I had particularly liked their raw coating that improved digestibility. However over the years the price increased by $20 for a large bag and the size of the bag became smaller (they used to all be 30lbs.). Note that most dog food manufacturers do not guarantee that 100% of the salmon used is wild or GMO free. Nature's Variety was one of the few that did. For 10 years I have always been able to load groceries and dog food in the SUV cargo area with my dog with total impunity but the first time I bought the Orijens kibble my Samoyed would not leave it alone and began to nibble a hole in the bag! He has been on the Orijens 5 Fish kibble for 2 years now. He transitioned effortlessly to it and there was a noticeable increase in energy level and overall condition. I also ended up reducing the amount I fed him slightly because of the high nutrient value and noticed a decrease in waste excrement reflecting its digestibility. He is not a picky eater but he definitely prefers Orijens and I highly recommend it.
