We use this as a treat sometimes, especially if we're not at home, because our dog will readily take it from our finger.

Great product for nutrients and to "hide" pills

We use this for our elderly cats to supplement their diet with additional nutrients and calories, and also to pill our cat (we put the product on our finger, hide the pill in it and feed it to our cat - we've also done this with our dog in the past). Both cats and dogs LOVE the flavor and will readily take this from your finger. My dogs love this as a treat and I appreciate that they are getting something healthy. This product is packed with nutrients including Omega 3 fatty acids - excellent product. I give each of my animals a teaspoon a day (Chihuahua and Bostons, and my two cats).
As a side note, both NutriCal and NutriStat are identical if you read the list of ingredients, and the calorie and nutritional values. So I buy whatever is cheaper. Also, the cat and dog versions are also identical. I think they are just marketed differently.
I store it in the refrigerator so it is a thicker consistency and easier to feed off my finger. At room temp it tends to get more runny and tackier.
I regularly purchase nutrical at petco where it costs over $12. This is a fantastic buy! I use it for my dog's medication. She loves the taste and it takes away the hassle of trying to get her to swallow her pills. It's also a good food substitute for when one of the dogs' tummies is upset and they don't want to eat.
