I think this is too large for a small cat. One of my cats (2 yr. old) loves to play, so I bought it for her thinking it was the size I had for the older cats (that broke) years ago. It is the size of a tennis ball which is too large for a 9 lb. cat to be interested in.

Review 3 for Petsafe Slimcat - Blue

great toy

Took a little getting used to but my cats love it! It provides enrichment and makes them think about how to get the treat/food out. If you have a bored or 'voluptuous' kitty at home, they will love this.

completely ineffective

I don't know what kind of pet food you have to put in it to create enough reward to get the cat to play with it. The dry food I had on hand won't come out (little stars are too big for the holes) and eventually the cat gives up in frustration.

Great Feeding Solution

I have one fat cat who must be fed 2x daily, and gets only his measured amount of food. The other cat needs to graze all day. If she eats too much at once, she vomits. It's hard to meet both their needs.
This ball has solved my problem. It was dispensing too much food at a time, but scotch tape over one of the holes stopped that.
One caveat: Fat cat is too DUMB to figure out how this ball works. If he had half a brain, he'd just roll the ball and snack his heart out.
